INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An east side convenience store has become a frequent target for armed robbers.

Metro police have released a surveillance picture of one suspect. He's accused of robbing the Village Pantry at English and Sherman in late September. The store said the man is just one of many who have held up the place.

Mike Singbusch has been working at the east side Village Pantry for eight years. In that time, Mike says robbers have put guns to his head, back and chest. He's even caught a suspect. Altogether, Mike recalls being held up seven times.

"Sometimes I've even seen a short, cut-off revolver or knife and they've demanded the contents of the cash drawer and sometimes a couple cigarette cartons," said Mike.

Mike's not alone. He said nearly every clerk at the store has been robbed at some point.

In order to catch the crooks and prevent future robberies from happening, the store installed several security cameras and mirrors so the clerks can see what's going on from every angle, at all times.

The cameras took pictures of a man robbing the village pantry with a box cutter knife in September. For the cops, it's a good lead.

"We're getting some quality video and still shots of these individuals which results in arrests," said IMPD Sgt. Paul Thompson.

An arrest would be music to Mike's ears. He's tired of feeling unsafe on the job.
