INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - One person is hurt after a house fire on the city's southeast side. The fire started just after 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Bradbury Avenue.
When authorities arrived, they found the homeowner inside. He had suffered burns to his face. The victim was taken to Wishard Hospital, but officials say his injuries are not life-threatening.
The Indianapolis Fire Department says the cold weather caused some problems.
"Right now, we're looking at about $50,000 worth of damage," said Captain Kevin Witt. "We had fire crews that had a problem with one fire hydrant near the front of the house, was not working properly, so we had to lay some additional lines to get water in here."
The owner's dog got out okay.
Arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
