NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A week ago an inmate caused a scare and injured a deputy at the Hamilton County Government Center.

In the wake of what happened, the Hamilton County sheriff met with area judges to discuss security issues.

Sheriff Doug Carter, Hamilton County Sheriff's Department said, "I thought it was an excellent meeting, it was very much a conversation, an acknowledgement that there are some things we could be doing better and we will start to do better; in the context of not only inmate management, but also management of the whole structure of this building."

Now, all inmates will be handcuffed if they're not facing a jury.

"Because of the constitutional rights of the defendant he can't be shown in jail clothes nor in restraints in front of the jury," said Hamilton County Judge Steve Nation.

Previously, Joshua Lindsey was not cuffed while he waited to enter Superior Court #2 to be sentenced for an armed robbery conviction. That's how he was able to get a hold of Deputy Dan Trowbridge's gun. During the scuffle, Lindsey pistol-whipped Deputy Trowbridge. He is now at home recovering from his injuries.

Lindsey faces nine charges including attempted murder. He is now being held in the Department of Corrections instead of the Hamilton County Jail because it is more secure.
