Firefighter, 22, dies in early morning accident

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) - Rob Chapman was living his dream as a Bloomington Township Volunteer firefighter.

“He would just always come in he was always full of enthusiasm and what do I do next and where do i go from here he was always looking forward, said Chief Faron Livingston Bloomington Township F.D.

Livingston says Chapman, who was only 22, was working to become a fully certified firefighter like his father, who works for the Bloomington city fire department.  But early Sunday morning that dream was suddenly cut short.  Chapman died in a single vehicle accident.

Livingston says Chapman was a born fighter.  A year before his death Chapman was involved in another serious car accident where he suffered a traumatic brain injury.   Livingston says Chapman suffered memory loss but did not let that stop him from reaching his goals and helping others.

“He helped a lot of the people who were in rehab with him he kind of took the initiative to help them overcome instead of concentrating on himself," said Livingston.

Livingston said there is no doubt Chapman would have been a great career fire fighter.

Chapman will be laid to rest on Friday with full firefighter honors.
