Teen gun sale lands three behind bars

GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) - Police arrested three people for trying to sell a shotgun to teenager in Greenwood.

19-year-old Justus Woodcock, and 21-year-old Tara Harvey-Ross were both arrested. Investigators say the two teamed up with a teenage boy to try to sell a gun to another teen.

“The suspects were soliciting anybody to buy a gun they had stolen,” said Greenwood Assistant Police Chief Matthew Fillenwarth. “They didn’t care who they would sell it to, they just wanted to make some money.”

One of the suspects sent a text message to a 17-year-old asking him if he wanted to purchase a gun, but the boy’s mother intercepted the text. She called police who set up an undercover sting operation.

Investigators arranged to purchase the Charles Daly 20 gage shotgun for 200 bucks in a church parking lot. When the three arrived police arrested the suspects.

“I think it’s a sad story about what our society has come to,” said Greg Burge, Owner of Beech Grove Firearms. “We have too many criminals walking among us.”

Court date for the three suspects has not been set.
