INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Colts are putting their muscle behind an effort to get kids active.

Tuesday morning, the team recognized one local school with a $10,000 NFL Play 60 grant for the way it is fighting childhood obesity.

Triton Elementary School in Shelby County is the big winner this year. The teachers submitted three essays about how they plan to incorporate football into lesson plans and promote wellness and health.

Pre-k through fourth-grade classes got a visit from players, as well as donated equipment and the grant.

The Play 60 campaign aims to get kids active for at least an hour each day and to put a focus on good nutrition as well.

The Triton program being recognized is in its third year and aims to affect kids’ entire lives.

"My goal is for the kids to grow older and to become ambassadors of this program and to take ownership of this program so that when they are older they can get other kids motivated to do the same," said Jan Jones, Triton PE teacher.

Tuesday, all students got to attend a short assembly with the Colts players before the grant delivery, and 50 kids got to participate in drills with the Colts players.
