Columbus considers storm siren change

COLUMBUS (WISH) - Columbus officials are considering changing their policies on when storm warning sirens should be sounded, 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Republic reports.

Current policy requires emergency officials to sound the sirens when a tornado warning is issued, or when a tornado watch is issued during a severe thunderstorm warning.

Under the proposal being considered, sirens would only be sounded when a tornado warning is issued.

The city of Indianapolis made that same change last summer.
