COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) - A United Way organization in central Indiana is ready to start rebuilding its headquarters that was destroyed by a Christmas Eve fire.

United Way of Bartholomew County says it has received a $5 million insurance settlement that will pay for much of the work on the Columbus building.

Contractor Dunlap & Co. of Columbus expects to start work about April 1 and have construction finished in mid-December. Company vice president Chuck Corbin says the new building will be slightly smaller because a second-floor section of office space will be demolished.

United Way president Doug Otto says plans are to have the more than two dozen social service groups and other agencies that shared the building moved back in during January.
