JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A crash on I-65 Thursday morning sent two people to the hospital.
Investigation shows 33-year-old Justin Shaffer of Greenwood was on the shoulder in his 1986 Cadillac when he pulled into the path of a southbound 2013 White Freightliner being operated by 59-year-old Dale Richardson.
The tractor trailer struck the Cadillac, causing the trailer to overturn and come to a stop on the side of the roadway.
Shaffer was able to get out of his vehicle, but Richardson was trapped inside of the tractor-trailer. Emergency crews extricated Richardson and transported both drivers to Methodist Hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the Cadillac was issued a traffic citation for operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance.
Traffic on I-65 southbound near the 90 milemarker was restricted for several hours while emergency crews cleaned up the accident.
