FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH) - A plastics maker in Franklin was rattled Monday morning by an explosion and subsequent fire.

Fire crews were sent to Amcor Rigid Plastics, 3201 Bearing Drive, Monday around 8 a.m. when a water flow alarm came in through the alarm company.

The explosion occurred in a large maintenance room and produced heavy smoke and fire. The plant's sprinkler system was activated and quickly extinguished the blaze.

As the first fire units arrived there was still heavy smoke and the building was being evacuated.

No one was injured. Fire investigators and plant officials are looking into what caused the explosion and fire. Officials say the plant did sustain heavy water damage.
