COLUMBUS, Ind. (The Republic) - Federal authorities on Tuesday searched the home of a Columbus man who owns an ambulance business, 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Republic reports.

The raid comes just a couple months after authorities searched Jaimie Johns’ ambulance business, STAT Ambulance. Johns said then that agents had interviewed him about the business's billing practices for bariatric surgery patients and had seized records.

Columbus Police told the newspaper the department was assisting the FBI, but federal officials said they couldn’t confirm they were conducting a search.

Also Tuesday, Seals Ambulance took over operations of STAT.

Johns recently resigned as the Bartholomew County Democratic chairman, saying his business kept him too busy.
