GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) - Firefighters in Greenwood battled a large house fire in Greenwood early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Oakridgeway. Greenwood firefighters say a homeowner noticed smoke filling his home and went to go check out the garage. When he opened the garage door, he found heavy flames inside the garage.
The man quickly grabbed his wife and exited the home. A dog was originally left inside, but firefighters were able to rescue the dog.
Neighbors say they heard popping sounds or explosions coming from the garage. That’s when they knew something was out of the ordinary and rushed over.
Firefighters say no injuries have been reported at this time. This fire is still under investigation, however it has been determined that the fire began in the garage.
