FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH) - Franklin Community Schools have security in place now: every door is locked, visitors must enter through the office and intercom systems with cameras are used.
One of the biggest safety practices is training for all staff members, including developing relationships with first responders.
But more safety could be coming.
On Wednesday night, the district is hosting a meeting with representatives from the school, the Franklin Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.
“In a safe and nurturing environment, our students are going to achieve student growth, they're going to learn better,” Bill Doty with Franklin Community Schools said. “When they feel safe, they're going to do better in school.”
Parents and the general public are invited to attend.
No decisions will be made at the meeting; this is an open conversation about what the district is doing and what they can do better.

A second forum will be held next week:
