GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) - A water tower that has stood over Greenwood for decades is scheduled to be demolished.

Our partners at the Daily Journal say the Valle Vista water tower will be demolished next week.

The water tower has not been used to hold water for more than five years. Officials say they want to take the tower down because is scares pilots who fly into the Greenwood Municipal Airport.

However, the water tower will not be destroyed with an explosion. Crews will take the tower down piece by piece.
