GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) - Police in Greenwood say they have arrested one man after a shot was fired inside of a car outside of the Greenwood Park Mall Saturday afternoon.

Officers with the Greenwood Police Department say shortly after 3:30 p.m. they responded to the parking lot of the mall, located at 1251 N. US 31, to the report of a possible robbery.

Police say there was some sort of altercation inside of a car outside of the mall. One shot was fired inside of the vehicle.

This happened near the entrance to the mall on the southeast corner of the property near the Dick's Sporting Goods.

Police say 27-year-old John A. Sanders, who was accompanied by two other subjects, met two other men in the parking lot to purchase marijuana.

Sanders told police he and the two subjects were there to purchase marijuana. He says he thought a man was reaching for a weapon, so he shot at him.

No one was injured.

Police took Sanders into custody, who was in possession of a handgun and marijuana. Sanders is also wanted on a warrant out of Johnson County for criminal mischief, police say.

He faces a number of preliminary charges.

The investigation is ongoing. Those involved in the incident could face more charges.
