Gun found in Columbus school lot

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) - Authorities found a loaded gun in a car in a parking lot at the same central Indiana high school that was locked down last week following a report of a student with a gun.
Authorities say the two events at Columbus North High School, 45 miles south of Indianapolis, are not related. The Republic reports school officials discovered the pistol in a student's car Wednesday. The student said the gun belongs to his parents.
Police don't believe he made any threats. The student was arrested on charges of possessing a firearm on school property and without a permit.
The school was put on lockdown last Friday following reports of a student with a gun roaming the hallways. Police have not found a weapon and no one was charged.
