Indy art museum receives grant for Miller House

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) - The Indianapolis Museum of Art has received a grant to digitize, catalog, and put online a collection of materials about a 1957 modernist-style home in Columbus designed by famed architect Eero Saarinen.

The museum announced Thursday it has received a $190,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to make available materials from the Miller House and Garden.

The house was built for Cummins Corp. president J. Irwin Miller, who was instrumental in bringing modern architecture to Columbus, about 40 miles south of Indianapolis. The home and garden were designated a National Historic Landmark in 2000.

The digitization of materials will take about two years to complete.
