IU arrests man in hate speech attack

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) - Indiana University police have arrested a suspect after a Halloween weekend attack in which police say suspects yelled racial slurs at victims before beating and robbing them.

IU Police executed a search warrant Monday afternoon at the dormitory of one of the suspects, 18-year-old Terry Lee Campbell Jr. Campbell wasn’t at his residence. Police arrested him at 9:58 p.m. Monday at Read Center. He faces preliminary charges of robbery and battery with serious bodily injury.

One of the victims in the clash has been treated for a broken jaw, police said.

IU Police said they are still investigating. The department anticipates additional arrests will be made. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call IU Police at (812) 855-4111.
