BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Indiana University says a record 7,600 first-year students are enrolled for the fall semester on its main campus in Bloomington.
It says 62 percent of the students are from Indiana. That's about three out of every five. The median high school grade-point average for all of the first-year students is 3.69 on a scale of 4.0.
IU says the Bloomington campus had nearly 42,000 undergrads, graduate students and professional students on the Bloomington campus for the first day of classes Monday. Monday also was the start of the fall semester at the IU campuses in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Kokomo. IU's other regional campuses begin classes next week.
