BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) - Indiana University Police are looking for three men after an 18-year-old IU student reported being attacked early Wednesday morning.
Police said they were increasing patrols after the student told police the attack happened around 4:30 a.m. near Ninth Street and Fess Avenue as he was walking home from studying with friends.
"The persons had asked before he was struck was for his wallet and his cell phone he did not have either of those so he was assaulted after that," IU Police Chief Keith Cash said.
The attackers then left the area. Friends found the student four hours later, around 8:30 a.m., lying by some cars.
The student was treated at a hospital for bruises and lacerations to the face.He said he hadn't been drinking.
Police describe the men as two white men, aged 18-25 years old. One had facial hair just under the mouth and above the chin and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. He was around 200 pounds and 6-foot. The other white man was about 170 pounds and 6-foot, and he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt as well.
The other man was black, about 18-25 years old and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with “Indiana University” on the front. He was about 180 pounds and 6-foot-3.

Leslie Bryant lives at the intersection where the attack happened. She said the attack will make her think twice before walking home late at night.
"I go to the union allot to study so even coming back from there late at night I think I am going to think twice before I decide to come home by myself," she said.
