BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) - Authorities have determined that a body discovered in a wooded area near Bloomington is that of a 57-year-old hiker reported missing by his family last week.
The Monroe County coroner hasn't determined a cause of death for Steven Salter of Bloomington, but says foul play isn't suspected.
Sheriff's Chief Deputy Mike Pershing tells The Herald-Times ( http://bit.ly/HRXuRM ) that searchers found Salter's body near a neighborhood a couple miles northwest of Bloomington on Saturday. He had been reported missing March 27, six days after family members last heard from him.
Pershing says relatives thought Salter was out hiking and told police he was prone to leaving for periods of time.
