COLUMBUS, Ind. (The Republic) - Waving a toy gun landed a man in the Bartholomew County Jail on Wednesday, 24-Hour News 8’s news partner, The Republic , reports.

Police say 26-year-old Lee T. Bybee pointed a pellet gun at residents and motorists in the 5200 block of Regency Drive. The pellet gun was black and looked real.

Officers called to the area told Bybee to put the weapon down, and they said he initially refused. Multiple officers responded and one police official said it’s fortunate the situation didn’t escalate.

Bybee was arrested on preliminary charges of intimidation and public intoxication.
