MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A nearly 100-year-old former hotel caught fire Wednesday evening in Martinsville.
Fire crews from Martinsville, Washington Township and Greene Township were called to West Pike Street to the report of a building fire.
When crews arrived they found smoke and flames showing from the rear of the building, which is one block from the fire department.
Everyone in the hotel evacuated the building safely.
Firefighters were able to contain the flames to one room where the fire started. Evacuees say fire started to come through the wall of their room.
All occupants were allowed back into their rooms except for those in the room where the fire originated. They will be placed in other property by the owner.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Not much outward damage was done to the hotel.
