MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - The two Martinsville police officers accused of using a stun gun on a child have gotten harsher punishment.

The mayor of Martinsville has suspended Captain Bill Jennings and Officer Darren Johnson without pay, reversing a decision made last Thursday.

The mayor says an internal investigation turned up evidence they violated department policy.

Authorities say Jennings and Johnson responded to the call of an unruly child Tuesday evening at a day care.

They say a 10-year-old boy was outside the Tender Teddies Day care House beating up other kids, kicking, screaming profanities and spitting on workers.

Officer Jennings reportedly slapped the boy while Johnson used a stun gun on his upper left arm.

The boy suffered no significant injuries.

At this time, the evidence the mayor is referring to has not been released.
