MONROE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - Dispatchers confirm a serious, single vehicle accident in the Hoosier National Forest Monday night.
Police say the incident occurred in the 9000 block of Low Gap Road around 6:10 p.m. A white Ford F-150 was traveling northbound when it lost control and ran off the road and struck a tree.
The driver, 17-year-old Michelle Beauchamp, suffered a broken pelvis and a broken fever. She was taken by lifeline to Methodist Hospital. Her 26-year-old passenger, Coty Garrett, suffered a broken jaw and head injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Methodist Hospital.
A Medical helicopter has been requested to the scene. It is not yet clear the cause of the accident or who was involved.
