OWEN COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A woman accused in the hit-and-run death of a 12-year-old boy turned herself in to authorities hours after her brother spoke with sheriff’s deputies, according to an investigator’s report.

The Owen County Sheriff’s Department arrested Tabitha Jo Blake-Lucas of Quincy, Ind. Friday for failure to return to the scene of an accident.

Blake-Lucas told authorities she was driving a friend’s black Chevy Malibu with her husband William Tracy Lucas from a Greencastle sports bar the night of the crash, according to the report.

She admitted to having “one mixed drink.”

She told investigators she was driving through Cunot, Ind. when she felt something hit her hood and windshield as she drove.

“She ran back and asked what had happened,” according to the report. “She then saw someone laying there. She said that people were upset that the driver hadn’t stopped and that was when she panicked and left.”

Blake-Lucas told authorities “that her husband wanted her to stay and do the right thing.”

Her father Mark Blake told police he and Blake-Lucas’ husband William Tracy Lucas replaced the windshield broken in the crash and tried to burn the broken glass.

Both Mark Blake and William Tracy Lucas have been charged with obstruction of justice.

All three have been released on bond.

Officials with the Owen County Sheriff’s Department said they could not comment on the case because it is still under investigation.
