TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - Two people were sent to the hospital and Interstate 65 had traffic backups after a semitrailer’s tire flew off Monday afternoon.

Indiana State Police and five other agencies responded to the incident near the 79-mile marker in Bartholomew County around 12:15 p.m.

The semi was northbound on I-65 when the tire came off, causing the driver to lose control and go off the road, hitting several trees and a fence.

Driver Stevie Mack, 53, and passenger Lakisha Todd, 34, both of Louisville, Ky., were taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital. They were expected to be OK.

One lane was closed during cleanup, along with the northbound ramp in Taylorsville. All closures have since been lifted.
