MONROE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A Bald Eagle was found dead in the Hoosier National Forest and officers are looking for who is responsible.

The mature Bald Eagle was found by Hoosier National Forest hikers near the Jackson, Lawrence, and Monroe County line on Nov. 5.

Officers believe the eagle died sometime early in November and are unsure if it died at that location or was dumped.

Officers think the eagle flew for some time before it died from being shot. An x-ray is being performed to confirm that the bird had been shot.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Conservation Officers at 1-800-TIP-IDNR.
