MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A popular Pay-to-Fish lake in Morgan County is under investigation.

Department of Natural Resources officers raided Hubbard's South Lake near Waverly earlier today.

DNR says the investigation centers around illegal fishing, purchasing and the sale of Indiana sport fish.

We spoke with the man in question, Robert Hubbard himself. He doesn't deny any of those allegations but says he didn't know that what he was doing was illegal.

24-Hour News 8’s Phil Sanchez asked “How about fishing in other bodies of water and then bringing the fish over here to your pay-lake, are you doing that?”

“I did that and you're not allowed to, I used to go out and catch 4 or 5 fish and bring them here but you're not allowed if you're in business." Robert Hubbard answered.

A lesson he learned this morning when six DNR cars pulled up to his property.

"I thought you could catch the fish statewide as long as you had a fishing license, you got to have a special license, it's only about 15 bucks, I wasn't aware of that and I'll go get that license."

Hubbard said friends and family have been calling him non stop wanting to know what happened.

"This is the best year I've had so far, and for that reason, you can ask anyone who comes here, anyone who fishes here, they caught the biggest fish they've ever caught here." Hubbard added.

Hubbard says he will be in court this week.

DNR says the case is still pending and he could be slapped with several misdemeanors. The future of his pay-lake is his biggest concern
