Hope (Columbus Republic) - Hope officials were trying to figure out why their only storm siren stayed silent twice Wednesday during a statewide test of sirens across much of Indiana.
Dennis Moats, director of local emergency management, said all 14 sirens in Columbus blared on cue at 7:20 a.m. and 7:40 p.m.
Hope has the county's only storm siren outside city limits. In most other cases, Columbus sirens are situated so people in outlying county areas still can hear them.
