GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) - The city of Greenwood wants to connect two of its biggest walking and biking trails. But many joggers and walkers say they worry the crossing is not safe.
The two trails are divided by a major highway — U.S. 31. To make the intersection safe, the city has installed crosswalks. Some people on the trail said they believe the crosswalks are not enough, but the city insists they are safe.
“People have to take care. That is a busy stretch of highway. This (has) gone through the INDOT review process. INDOT has adjusted the pedestrian crossing timings to give additional time for crossing at that location,” said Mark Richards with the city of Greenwood.
The city hopes, some day, they will be able to build a bridge over U.S. 31. But right now it's not in the budget.
