BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - 24-Hour News 8 was on the scene Friday night of an accident near Hartsville where police confirmed two people were killed.
According to a release from the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to a call about a vehicle accident and a car on fire around 8 p.m. Friday night.
The incident happened in the westbound lanes of SR 46.
Investigation shows a 2007 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 27-year-old Ann Schwartze was traveling westbound on SR 46 when the Ford, driven by 21-year-old Danielle Catron, traveled into her lane and struck the vehicle. Shortly after the collision, the van erupted into flames.
Shwartze was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for unknown injuries.
Catron and Jeffrey Washburn, a 22-year-old passenger, died on scene.
Investigation shows drugs and alcohol were not a factor in this accident. The roadway was slick at the time of the crash, which may have been the cause of the accident.
