FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH) - A Franklin assisted living company is being investigated following the death of a resident, the Daily Journal reports .
Virginia Clayton, 85, wandered away from Morning Pointe Assisted Living. A passerby discovered her body Sunday morning along East Jefferson Street, about three blocks from the living center. The autopsy showed she died of hypothermia.
Now, the Johnson County Coroner’s office and the Indiana State Department of Health are investigating whether or not the assisted living community followed health care facility rules.
The Daily Journal reports one of the facets of the investigation includes why staff members did not respond to the alarm that sounded when Clayton left the building.
