INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A 51-year-old Greenwood woman was sentenced Thursday to three years probation and six months in a community confinement center for stealing more than $19,000 from the post office where she worked.
The United States Postal Service says its Office of the Inspector General began investigating when more than $14,000 turned up missing from January 2009 to April 2009. During the investigation, postal service officials say, an additional $4563 in losses occurred.
Then from May until August 2009, the OIG conducted several test purchases of postage stamps from Lea Ann Kyle. Those purchases showed that Kyle was “under reporting or failing to report stamp sales.”
Kyle was ordered to pay $19,406 in restitution.
