ROACHDALE, Ind. (WISH) - Three people were killed in a fire early Sunday morning in Roachdale, Ind.
Officials with the Roachdale Fire Department responded to a residence fire on the 300 block of East Railroad Street around 6 a.m.
Fire crews say a mobile home had caught fire.
A firefighter who leaves nearby was alerted to the flames by a neighbor. When fire crews arrived they found the home completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 30 minutes.
On scene firefighters found three people, two women and one man, inside the mobile home. The three individuals were pronounced dead on scene.
Fire officials say the victims are a mother who was in her 80s and her two children, in their 40s and 50s. They are believed to be the occupants of the residence.
The fire is still under investigation. Foul play is not suspected at this time, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.
Officials believe there were no working smoke detectors inside of the mobile home.
"We don't believe there were smoke detectors. We can't stress enough how important that is because that probably would have made a difference in this fire," said Roachdale Fire Department Chief Mike Poole.
The victims names have not yet been released.
