PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A truck driver was cited Wednesday for leaking approximately five tons of contaminated soil across a two-mile stretch of roadway in Parke County.
Troopers responded to Catlin Road near County Road 200 South, just south of Rockville, to the report of a dump truck that was leaking soil into the roadway, according to a release.
A witness says 48-year-old Timothy Parke was traveling northbound on Catlin Road with the rear dump gate of the truck ajar.
The truck was reportedly losing soil on the roadway.
The driver got the attention of the truck driver who stopped the vehicle.
When troopers arrived they learned the soil was contaminated with crude oil from a clean up site nearby.
Officers closed the roadway to traffic and the truck driver was cited for leaky load. He was also cited for other infractions.
