BROWNSBURG, Ind. (WISH) - IMPD told 24-Hour News 8 that Garden City Elementary School was locked down due to a robbery Wednesday morning. However, school administrators have told 24-Hour News 8 that is not the case. They say students won’t be allowed outside for recess and police are monitoring the situation.

Brownsburg police are investigating an attempted robbery at the Old National Bank on East Main Street.

The teller told police a man approached the desk and laid a note down demanding money. The teller told the man the vaults weren’t open yet and she couldn’t give him any money. That’s when the man grabbed the note and left the bank. Police don’t know if the man had a weapon, but the teller said he implied that hid did.

He’s described as a white male 5’11” tall, 175 lbs, roughly about 25 years old, with very short dark hair. He was wearing a green ball cap, blue jeans, and a white T-shirt with a stripe.

The bank surveillance video showed a charcoal colored vehicle, possibly a Pontiac with tinted windows immediately leave the area at the time the suspect left the bank. However, police say he was not seen getting in the vehicle.

Investigators said the man matches the description of a man who robbed a National City Bank on Crawfordsville Road in Indianapolis earlier Wednesday morning.

If you have any information on this case please call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
