CLOVERDALE, Ind. (WISH) - A 12-year-old boy driving a boat hit two other teens who were tubing behind the boat Tuesday afternoon on Cataract Lake in Putnam County, sending one 15-year-old to the hospital.
Investigators said one teen was able to jump off the tube in time, but DNR officers said the 15-year-old, from Indianapolis, was run struck by the boat propeller. He was flown via medical helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital with severe stomach injuries.
The accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. It was unclear why the boat had been turned back toward the tube being towed.
The investigation is ongoing, DNR said.
