AVON, Ind. (WISH) - An Avon family got quite a shock Friday morning when a vehicle crashed into their home.
Hendricks County emergency officials were called to the home at 8953 E. Hendricks County Road 100N at about 5 a.m. Friday after the vehicle smashed into a fireplace, sending electronics and other things flying into the room inside, where the family was watching television when the accident happened.
Investigators said the vehicle left the roadway, crossed the yard and crashed into the home near 10th Street and Dan Jones Road. West 10th Street was closed in the area of Hendricks County Road 900 East but has since reopened.
The crash knocked the rock facade from the chimney, and the home was being inspected for other structural damage.
The driver was slightly injured. No one inside the home was hurt.
The investigation is ongoing.
