DANVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A man on a bike was severely injured after he was hit by a car early Sunday morning in Danville, Hendricks County Sheriff’s report.
Hendrick’s County Sheriff’s say the accident occurred in the intersection of County Road 525 East and East Main Street.
Officers say a car driven by Matthew Campbell, 25 of Indianapolis, was travelling eastbound on East Main Street when a bike rider, Joseph Allis, 18, of Avon, crossed the road into the car’s path.
Campbell tried to swerve to avoid the collision, but was unable to and hit Allis.
Allis was transported to Methodist Hospital with severe head injuries, according to police.
Campbell showed no signs of impairment, but a blood draw for alcohol was completed due to the severity of the bicyclist’s injuries.
Police say neither alcohol nor speed were a factor.
