AVON, Ind. (WISH) - The chemical spill situation at the CSX Rail Yard in Avon has been cleared up.
Around 4 o'clock this morning a tanker carrying a flammable liquid called Isobutylene began leaking on the south side of the rail yard.
CSX crews in full self-contained breathing gear gained access to the tanker and were able to close a leaking valve.
The tanker car was attached to a few other rail cars in an isolated area of the CSX Avon rail yard.
The leak was confined to base of the tanker.
Avon fire crews monitored the air in the surrounding area and reported no dangerous levels were detected.
No homes in the nearby neighborhoods were evacuated and there are no reports of injuries.
