MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A Lebanon man was sent to the hospital in critical condition Saturday after he fell 22 feet from a tree stand in Shannondale.
Indiana Conservation Officers are investigation the accident that happened late Saturday afternoon in eastern Montgomery County.
Samuel Shepherd, 64, was found at the base of a tree after he failed to respond to a text message from his grandson.
He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition.
Shepherd suffered internal injuries and broken bones. Investigators say he was trying to relocate himself from the tree stand to the foot step below the stand when he lost his grip and feel 22 feet to the ground.
Shepherd's daughter called 24-Hour News 8 late Sunday night to say her father is doing well.
