CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A man escaped serious injury Thanksgiving morning after he was accidentally shot while out hunting just north of Crawfordsville.
Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the hunting accident where 35-year-old Jeremy Horn was shot in the elbow by his hunting partner Troy Payne, 48.
Investigators say that after Payne shot a deer he bent over to check it without placing the safety of his shotgun in the on position.
The shotgun began to slide off of Payne’s shoulder. When he went to catch it, his finger hit near the trigger and a shot was fired, hitting Horn in the elbow.
Payne rushed Horn to the hospital where we was treated and released.
Investigators have ruled this an accident.
