BAINBRIDGE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a 56-year-old man has been arrested after he was caught shooting rabbits on the grounds of a rural central Indiana high school.

State conservation officers say heard a shot Sunday near North Putnam High School and followed footprints from a vehicle in the parking lot of the school near the Putnam County town of Bainbridge. The officer reported finding Kim England, 56, Indianapolis, near the school's football practice field with a handgun and several rabbits.

Police say England told the officer he believed the property was open to the public. Police say a church service was being held in the school about 30 miles west of Indianapolis. No injuries were reported.

England faces preliminary charges including firearm possession on school property and hunting without a license.
