PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - An elderly woman was returned to her family after being stopped early Wednesday morning for erratic driving.

Ninety-year-old Iris R. Peavey of Jasonville, Ind. was pulled over after an early morning call to 911, and more calls from a nearby convenience mart, reporting abnormal driving from a green 2001 Mercury car. Putnam County Sheriff's deputy Adam Hull and Indiana State Police Major Brad Scully say, after finally pulling over, Peavey appeared very confused.

The officers learned she had been reported as a missing person and the sheriff's office was in the process of requesting an Indiana Silver Alert. Peavey had been driving around for an extended time, possibly overnight, trying to find her way home.

She was taken to the nearby Putnamville Post where she waited on family members to return her home safely. Peavey was OK, besides experiencing confusion and anxiety.
