FOUNTAIN CO., Ind. (WISH) -
A serious two car crash on I-74 killed a 4-year-old girl in Fountain County Friday night.
According to police, a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer was heading westbound on I-74 when the driver, Deishay D. Scott, 18 of Indianapolis lost control of the car due to snowy, icy roads.
The Trailblazer went off the roadway, crossed over into the grassy median, and came back up into the east bound lanes of I-74 where it hit a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix in the right lane, police reports stated.
The Trailblazer then left the roadway again and landed in a ditch, where it rolled over onto its passenger side.
Scott, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Crawfordsville where she was treated and released for cuts and chest pain.
Other passengers in the Trailblazer were Shalanda Reynolds, 32 of Indianapolis, who suffered a broken pelvis and was not wearing a seatbelt and her daughter, Lovelyonna Reynolds, 14, who suffered head injuries and a collapsed lung. She was also not wearing a seat belt, according to police.
Neither one of Scott's two children, Daeshawn Kennedy, 2 and Ra-Shawn Kennedy, 3, were properly restrained in the vehicle.
Daeshawn was transported to Riley's Children Hospital in Indianapolis for severe head injury, contusions and cuts and Ra-Shawn was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fountain County Coroner, according to police.
An autopsy is scheduled for later Saturday to determine cause of death.
The driver of the Grand Prix, Annette L. Suess, 46 of Murrayville, Illinois, was taken to Saint Elizabeth's and later transported to Methodist Hospital with head and lung injuries and possible lacerated liver.
Police state impaired driving caused the crash.
