Standoff suspect gives himself up

ROSEDALE, Ind. (WTHI) - A standoff outside of Rosedale ended at 7:06 p.m. Sunday when the suspect gave himself up, Police said.

The suspect left in an ambulance due to cuts believed to be self-inflicted.

Sergeant Joe Watts, with the Indiana State Police says the shooter was using a long, high powered rifle.

Police attempted to negotiate with the suspect, but the suspect was unwilling to talk.

No names have been released at this time, but police confirmed Rodney Lowe of Rosedale owns the house at which the standoff occurred but was not involved.

Aside from the suspect who is being treated for cuts, a Deputy Town Marshall and an Indiana State Police Trooper were hit with debris from bullets striking a Police cruiser; however, neither were shot. Those injuries were non-life threatening.

Several emergency responders flooded the scene including Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team, Clinton, Fairview Park, Parke County, Vermillion County and Indiana State Police Excise.
