MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - The Martinsville teen accused of shooting a former classmate faced a judge Monday afternoon, with his family on hand.

Family members declined to talk on camera, though the teen suspect did have supporters in the courtroom. Some could be heard telling him to keep his head up as he was escorted out of the courthouse.

24-Hour News 8 did talk briefly to a close family friend of the suspect who is nervous the teen will face adult charges. A judge will make a decision on April 18 on whether the teen will be charged as an adult.

"I was afraid, I was afraid of that because of his age, I hope it doesn't go that way," said Tonya Haltom.

Haltom’s son is friends with the suspect. The suspect spent the night at her home the night before the shooting.
