BROWNSBURG, Ind. (WISH) - A Boone County mother is arrested for driving drunk in Hendricks County over the Labor Day Weekend. Police said she had seven kids inside her black Cadillac Escalade at the time of her arrest. Investigators said four of the kids belong to her; the three others were her friends.

Brownsburg Police said Brandee Polak first told them she hadn't been drinking. Investigators said after she failed several field sobriety tests, she later admitted to having six beers after she was arrested.

44 year-old Polak is out of the Hendricks County Jail after posting bond.

Around 10:50 Sunday night, a Brownsburg officer clocked Polak speeding in a 35 mile per hour zone on West Main and State Road 39. Investigators said her Black Escalade went left of the center lane on two occasions before coming to a stop at an intersection.

According to a police report 24 Hour News 8 obtained, the officer smelled alcohol coming from Polak. The officer also noticed Polak seemed confused and could not remember where she had just come from. Even though the officer reported Polak had slurred speech, red and bloodshot eyes, investigators said she told them she had not been drinking.

After failing several field sobriety tests, the officer administered a breathalyzer test on the scene. Polak tested a point-one-one. She then admitted to the officer she had six beers. Polak was arrested on the scene.

Police released the SUV to her husband who they said was following her. Polak's 16-year-old son drove the SUV home.

24 Hour News 8 traveled to Zionsville where Polak lives to get a response. There wasn’t a response.

24-Hour News 8’s Daniel Miller did talk to her neighbor, Jacob Shelburne.

"That's pretty irresponsible for a parent I think," he said.

Shelburne said on several occasions he's seen Polak speeding down the street.

"Every time she pulls out of here, she's either in a mustang or an Escalade and she just... It seems like she just forwards it and takes off," he said.

Just as Polak did after we finally caught her Black Escalade going inside the gate.

Investigators said none of the seven kids inside the SUV were hurt.

Polak bonded out of the Hendricks County Jail early Monday morning.

24 Hour News 8 put in a check to get Polak's driving record and we learned those records are confidential.
