ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - A soldier from Anderson is recovering at Walter Reed Hospital in Maryland after encountering a bomb in Afghanistan, military officials say.
U.S. Army soldier Timothy Senkowski has undergone 17 surgeries since he and another soldier were struck by a roadside bomb. The blast killed Senkowski’s patrol partner.
Senkowski lost both of his legs in the incident and severely injured one of his arms. Family members say he’s in a lot of pain.
About $5,260 has been raised to help the family. That includes Monday raised Friday at a benefit event.
Senkowski and his wife are both in wheelchairs and have two sons.
Donations can be made to the family at any PNC Bank branch or through the Guardian Angels of Indianapolis .
